Falling Rains - Rushing Drains

This video is what it sounds like after the sudden removal of about 150 trees - when rain falls on barren ground and rushes directly into ditches and drains - instead of being absorbed into the earth via plant cover to replenish water tables.

After half of our 5-acre urban forest was clear-cut many trees died. Trees die when previously sheltered roots are exposed to the heat of the sun and the water table drops as land is stripped and left barren. Such deaths are caused by the deliberate acts of men.

Trees that no longer exist obviously can no longer suck up the rainwater or stabilize the slope - and walls, pavement and pipes have cracked and broken all around us as buildings, sidewalks, driveways, retaining walls, decks and gates sunk.

I attended one council meeting where Trevor Neuman estimated the cost to replace a single mature tree was $15,000. On December 4, 2008, I attended another council meeting and heard what sounded like the estimated cost to connect a pipe (just a single one?) to the sewer could be $25,000. We have no idea what it costs to jack up buildings ... all I know is that we pay for it.

If so many owners are ignorant, as Mr. Mac so often claimed - we think it is because incriminating decisions are not voted on or disclosed in the minutes as required by legislation.
